How did idolatry begin? When Adam passed away, his children would weep over him because he was used to them, and they would be overwhelmed with grief. . The devil whispered in their hearts that they should make an image of their father which would be a source of comfort to them. So they made a statue of Adam and started visiting this idol daily and consoling themselves with it. Sometime later, Satan said to them, "Your father Adam was great and respected and was the cause of your existence, so he deserves to be worshiped and worshiped, but also to Eve." This is what they did. After some time, it became ingrained in the minds of the people that they were their creators and thus idolatry gradually became prevalent among the children of Adam.
